Lift Up Your Eyes and See

Lift up your eyes on high and see:

who created these?

He who brings out their host by number,

calling them all by name;

by the greatness of his might

and because he is strong in power,

not one is missing. (Isaiah 40:26, ESV)

Dear Mankind,

As you look upon these new images, remember you are but a gazer you didn’t create, you didn’t order, you merely gaze. Those images are not yours though you captured them. They belong to another who orders the stars and sets them in place. He ordains every light; knows every expanse and extinction of light. He sets them in the heavens to declare his glory.

More glorious than the stars is this: He who sets the stars in place knows every hair upon your head; your rising and your falling; your each and every thought.

He who concerns himself with the cosmos cares for you. He who said let there be and there was doesn’t force himself on you; instead, he is willing that none should perish.

It is appointed for a man once to die and afterward the judgment. At that time, we won't find our place amongst the stars. We will find our place either with the One who ordained the starts or forever lost from Him.

Remember,

Without him, the stars are nothing.

Without him, your contemplation of them is fruitless.

Without him, the stars are unreachable.

But with him is always the better.

Lift up your eyes and see Him who is beyond the stars.

Affectionately,

A Fellow Star Gazer
